DONALD-D

When people talk about great MC's who have represented the Hip Hop Culture, the name DONALD-D no doubt gets Hip Hop heads talking about their best DONALD-D stories.

He first exploded on the scene with AFRIKA ISLAM, and the ZULU NATION. Then DON built his rep on the streets as a story telling MC, but still had the battle skills to take out any MC. By paying dues as a true B-BOY on the BRONX streets in NEW YORK CITY, DONALD-D has earned the respect within' the Hip Hop Culture Worldwide.

DONALD-D's big break in the recording industry came when he performed as a MC on the ZULU BEAT radio show with AFRIKA ISLAM. That was where C.E.O. VINCENT DAVIS of VINTERTAINMENT RECORDS first heard 'D' drop his rhyme skills and offered him a record deal. DONALD-D recorded his first song under the group name THE B-BOYS with DJ CHUCK CHILL OUT who also was a radio D.J. For KISS FM. The song ROCK THE HOUSE got little airplay, but was a big hit with the BREAK DANCERS, and POP LOCKERS. ROCK THE HOUSE is one of the most sampled lyric in many RAP and R&B songs.

This led to D's second release titled: STICK UP KID /b side GIRLS. Along with rap partner
BROTHER B, GIRLS became a huge underground hit. The success of GIRLS got THE B-BOYS on tour with rap acts DOUGIE FRESH "N" SLICK RICK and the BOOGIE BOYS. The B-BOYS recorded one more song titled: GIRLS PART 2. Unhappy with the way business was being ran with VINTERTAINMENT the group cut ties with the label. Donald then recorded the song titled: OUTLAW b/side DOPE JAM, with the label ROCKIN HARD RECORDS, a small company with no promotional push. The song got major play on the mix shows and college radios.

DONALD-D got a call from rap artist ICE-T to record a song for the album RHYME SYNDICATE
COMING THROUGH. A month after his successful trip to Los Angeles DON moved there. In L.A. , DONALD exposed his talents to the music industry. He teamed up with ICE-T and became T's right hand man, and cowrote many songs on the ICE-T albums. This led to his debut album titled: NOTORIOUS which was released on SONY RECORDS. The album featured the hit single: F.B.I. (FREE BASE INSTITUTE).

DONALD-D's second album started with drama. RHYME SINDICATE and SONY were no longer seeing eye to eye, even with the success of 'D' s album, so the SYNDICATE moved over to WARNER BROTHERS RECORDS. DONALD recorded the album titled: LET THE HORNS BLOW. It was a big hit in the Japan and European market which led to major touring overseas. DONALD-D also did a video for the song titled: I'M GONNA SMOKE HIM for the TRESPASS movie soundtrack. The future was looking bright, but when it came time to release the L.T.H.B album in the United States, DONALD got caught in the cross fire of ICE-T's Cop Killer drama. When the smoke finally cleared, WARNER BROTHERS dropped ICE T, DONALD-D, and the rest of the RHYME SYNDICATE ARTISTS. At that point "D" decided to break away from the SYNDICATE, and establish his own identity in the entertainment biz.

He went on to act in the Gospel play FAITH-n-TEMPTATION where he got great reviews. He later
acted in his frist movie titled: BANG for POLYGRAM FILMS. With music being his first love, he has been back in the studio cutting tracks with MARTIKA who had the big hit TOY SOLDIER. He also been working with MAMBO # 5 LOU BEGA and if that's not enough he has collaborated with italian hit maker singer MARCO MASINI. When DONALD-D is not on tour or in the studio he is a radio/club d.j. He has been a Hip Hop personality on W.H.B.I. in New York, POWER 106 in L.A., INTER F.M. in Japan, and CONTRO RADIO in Italy
