DJ Camilos mixtape skills have landed him nominations for 'Most Creative DJ' at the Mixtapes Awards. He has won an award for 'Best Blends On A Mix tape', which he received in 1998.
A native of Queens, DJ Camilo has been building up his skills for 12 years. This Strictly Live Columbian DJ has been hitting up hotspots in New York City in clubs like Club New York, KitKat, Casablanca, Club Ivy, The Tunnel, Latin Quarters, Sound Factory, Bar 85, Jimmy Bronx`s Cafe, Metropolis, Venus, the legendary Copacabana and the very missed Palladium. Just to name a few.
In Miami he has rocked the crowds at Liquids, Club Zen, St. Croix, Mission and Cream. His sounds have been taken to the east coast clubs in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Over the border to Toronto (Canada) Camilo has performed for the crowds at their infamous 'Caravana' -Festival. He has taken his talents and entertained hiphop-heads overseas as well. He has been delivering the ruckus all over and over in Germany and has been playing frequently in Puerto Rico. Off to the west coast DJ Camilo has played at the Magic Show in Las Vegas exclusively for clothing extraordinaire Willie Esco.
DJ Camilos Mixtapes have gained him so much recognition giving listeners a wide range of hip hop, rnb and reggae tapes. Besides the U.S. his Mixtapes are distributed in Japan and numerous countries in Europe. Always striving to increase Latin representation in hip hop this became evident in 1998 when he introduced the 'Latin Connection' Mixtape. Here he put a collaboration of freestyles of Latin MCs. He has also made an exclusive mixtape for west coast based clothing company Alphanumeric. In 1999 Camilo delivered a tape to the masses which was a collabo with Miami's own DJ Epps.
DJ Camilo's talents have gained much attention which has landed him feature articles about his tapes and talents in magazines here and aboard such as Trace (GB), Crown'n'Jewels (Germany), In The House (Puerto Rico), Urban Latino, Hits and Stress Magazine (U.S.).
