Biography

If you haven’t heard about me yet then bhangra is not your type of music!

I am confidently able to say after my contributions to the bhangra industry, I have successfully placed myself at the top alongside other established mc’s, with help from one of the UK’s most respected record labels UntouchablesUK. I have worked for various labels and performed at big clubs up and down the country.

My first track ‘Kamaal’ from the album Streetbeats Vol1 (Ruthless Records) was where it all started. My debut was with an excellent punjabi vocalist none, other than the one ‘Manak-e’ (who also sang the smash hit hor glassy track 1 on the same album). My own lyrical contribution to the track crafted my 1st hit track, and clubs up and down the country got to experience ‘the 1st mc to rhyme confidently between English and Punjabi’. Kamaal was a good debut for me to come on to the scene with, as it helped to put my name straight up there with the other big artists. A video for the track was aired constantly on various Asian music channels which gave it that extra push.

The style which I have introduced to the scene of rhyming verses (in some cases dominantly) in Punjabi mixed with English, has been able to excel me at a faster rate and has helped me create an original identity for myself as opposed to just another mc. After the success of Kamaal I made another hit track in the form of ‘Billo’ with Gubi Sandhu and GI jatt, two more highly respected figures in the industry. This track was what really put me up there, the sing a long vibe of my lyrics, the explosive video, and the mellow beat all formulated a truly brilliant piece of work. Next I featured on one of the best selling albums of last year in the form of RDB’s Unstoppable, in the re-fix of one of the best bhangra tracks ever made ‘putt sardara de’ featuring one of bhangra’s biggest vocal legends ranjit Mani. I was fortunate to be able to make lyrics for the main RDB looped verse, these lyrics when dropped anywhere are known and easily recited by thousands of fans. The track was also featured on the Punjabi hit squad album under the def jam UK label and I also made a special appearance in the RDB medley video too. Being given the chance to go on the RDB album for one of the most respected all round artists was a great achievement. The most recent success of mine has been in the form of the number 1 track on Danger 3 (one of the most anticipated albums of 2004) in the shape of the song Punjabanay. This track is already playing all over music channels and the radio at the number 1 spot. The ‘Sum next auntie’ interlude on danger 3 displays one of the many different unique styles I have in my lyrical abilities, and the track is being rated very highly by a lot of critics and fans. I added this vibe specially to display my creativity in the form of, the humorous elements to the song, the story it tells, all mixed with comical Punjabi words and typical stereotypes within the asian community.

My versitality as an artist doesn’t stop there as I have abilities to rap and sing, in Punjabi Hindi and English. I am waiting for the right moment to display these additional talents like I did with the interlude. I have been working on my rapping for quite a time, and even though I am being classed up there as one of the best mc’s in the industry, many say my rapping abilities exceed my mc-ing ones. For this reason, I am currently focusing on my rapping, and slowly I will be introducing this into the industry. I am very fluent in hindi and Punjabi and I can sing songs in them languages as well as RNB style singing, which I also look to introduce at some point in my career. From a general perspective people will find it hard to get bored of me because of my creativity and versitality as an artist, and I will continue to sifferentiate myself from the rest throughout my whole career.

Along with all these achievements I am extremely comfortable performing in front of audiences of unlimited capacities. I have credited myself to many high rate performances in places like Wembley arenas, Equinox (Leicester square), Po Na Na (Hammersmith) and the Millennium Dome to name a just a few. I have performed alongside all the UntouchablesUK artists, and many other respected and up and coming artists who are a part of the mainstream circuit like Dr Zeus, Raghav, Iceberg Slimm, Dj Luck and MC Neat. I wish to add to this list and treat any performance as another one where I will look to blow the roof off the arena and push out my name even further.

With the best producers and singers behind me, my versatility as an artist and my already estabilished name, I wish to push my name out even more by doing high profile stage performances like big asian melas. My confidence on stage, my sing a long style lyrics, my ability to freestyle and interact with the crowd and my animated personality are all key ingredients to excite and entertain large crowds. I feel I can make a great impact on these events and would like to be a part of them for my own development and promotion as an artist.
