Biography

Indy Sagu emerging from the RDB camp at the end of 2002 with his album ‘The Debut’ is yet to astound us further. This 23 year old has been dj-ing since the age of 18...and has been spinning on the club circuit for over 5 years. Born and bred in the suburban streets of Yorkshire, this raw talent has always been influenced by personal experiences like most good artists. Now awaiting the release of his second album in April 2004 one cannot help but wonder what this artist has in store for us. Calling the album ‘Indy-structable’ a name which Indy Sagu is sure to live up to, the album proves to be a unique collaboration of all things new.

Indy Sagu bought his first set of turntables before the age of 17, his influences were and are vast, and closer to home that you would imagine. His father a lead Dholki player in a band in the eighties, and his uncle who formed the first folk dancing group in Yorkshire (Nachda Punjab). At an early age Indy Sagu learnt to play the dholki and tabla from his father. Other influences ranged from the likes of Bally Sagoo...Executives (Extra Hot series) particularly the traditional Bhangra vocalists from Punjab Surinder Shinda and Kuldeep Manak.

After the release of his debut album, Sagu has delved deeper into the production elements of the music making industry and worked with new styles, sounds, and new artists concentrating on bringing something new for everyone to enjoy.

Since the release of his album ‘The Debut’ Sagu has well established himself in the Industry, reaching the number one spot in the Bhangra album charts soon after. Now almost a household name within the urban music listening market Indy Sagu went on to pick up the UK Asian Music Award for Best Newcomer 2003, which was voted for by the fans
