2-Dark aka Dippa (Gurmit S Dulai) is a new young producer about to blow up big time on the bhangra scene. Born & raised in Handsworth, Birmingham. The younger brother of the new bhangra phenomenon “Mehsopuria”.
A talented tabla & dholak percussionist, immensely gifted, a volcano of talent waiting to errupt. Student of re-nouned classical guru “Ustaad Sri Ajit Singh Mutlashi Ji”. Playing the tabla from a very young age, he gained valuable knowledge in classical Indian music & religious Kirtan, playing live in Sweden & India.
Having played live percussion with great singers such as Mangal Singh, Balwinder Safri, Malkit Singh, Rahat “Nusrat” Fateh Ali Khan & Ustaad Sri Ajit Singh Mutlashi Ji. Currently plays live tabla alongside his brother Mehsopuria on his live shows.
Inspired by classical Indian, hip-hop, bhangra, r&b, reggae & qawwali. His inspirations are Ustaad Zakhir Hussain, late Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & the awesome musical maestro Pritam Singh. Mainstream inspirations are Dr. Dre, Ice-T & Master P.
A hands on producer who brings a fusion of his influences into his musical productions, keeping the rich culture of Punjab alive in his productions yet blending original western beats to create a toxic potion which will keep dance floors & sub woofers pumping his tunes non-stop.
Making his debut on “Mehsopuria the album” as a producer. 2-dark will be releasing his own album towards next year breathing a much needed new freshness into the bhangra scene.
