Payal Jain, a Summa-cum-laude graduate in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), San Francisco, U.S.A. was also awarded the President's Honor Roll.
The budding designer went on to be selected as sole assistant designer with leading Design Houses such as Celia Tejada Inc. and Jacqueline De Brey Couture & Ulrich Enler Couture designing pret-a-porter and couture lines. She has hand on experience in designing and merchandising with establishments like Fritzi California And San Francisco Clothing's Bank. While at FIDM, Payal was nominated for a study tour of European Fashion Houses like Kenzo, Pierre Cardin, Cristian Lacroix, Gucci and Zandra Rhodes during the course of which she gained some very valuable experience. She also gained exposure with the renowned printing house of Ratti and embroidery unit of house of Lesage. She has come a long way since then to be recognized as one of the leading Fashion Designers in the country.
A strong foundation in neo-classical aesthetics coupled with an unparalleled standard of perfection in production is the essence of Payal’s designs. Clear silhouettes, innovative fabrics and a wealth of crafts come alive in her creations. Payal has always looked for new challenges to put her skills to test. In the past she has worked for and raised funds for a number of charities. She has been instrumental in raising funds through shows for NGOs like Tamana School, Vatsalya for street children in Mumbai, CPAA and Prayas Foundation in Delhi.
In her aim to revive age-old Indian traditions of weaving, printing and creating new fabrics, she has established a new language of perfection. She has undoubtedly captured the Indian soul in her classic Western silhouettes.
Payal Jain in her endeavor to take up new challenges has been designing uniforms for prestigious hotels, hospitals and schools. Payal’s corporate design work is a synthesis of functionality and elegant style. Contemporary fashion design in a corporate environment is about creating synergies. Payal Jain’s clientele are a testimony to the quality of her work and style.
As a Fashion and Styling Consultant at the Lakme Beauty Studio, Payal will be retailing her collection at the Beauty Studio and will also recommend and provide a distinct and unique sense of style, fit and comfort along with insights on international fashion trends in western wear.
